AN EXCELLENT MARK

A schoolboy's father was reading the school report which had just been handed to him by his son. He became angry as he read his marks: English — poor1; French — weak2; mathematics — fair3.

"What a disgrace4!" exclaimed he. "Well," said the son, "it is not so good as it might be5, but have you seen that?" And he pointed to the next line with his finger.

And the father read: "Health — excellent".

111. Read the dialogues in pairs and make up your own ones. Receptionist: Doctor Brown's office!

Mrs. Smith: This is Mrs. Smith. I'd like to make an appointment.

Receptionist: Very well. Is it for yourself? Mrs. Smith: No, it's for my boy. He is 16. Receptionist: What's the matter with him? Mrs. Smith: He has been coughing for a week. Receptionist: Let him come to the therapeutist. I can give him an appointment for today at 16.30 or tomorrow at any time.

Mrs. Smith: Thank you so much. He will come today.
