CLOCKS AND WATCHES

Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary says that a clock is an instrument (not carried or worn like a watch) for measuring and showing the time. So the watches can be carried in the pocket or worn on the wrist.

There are two hands on the face of the clock. One hand is long and the other hand is short. The long hand is the minute hand. The short hand is the hour hand. Some watches show not only hours and minutes but also seconds, names of the days and months.

These are clocks.
